What Are Your Greatest Challenges in 2005?
I know, this is not a prediction post, but we've had enough of those anyway. I'm more concerned about what our challenges are for next near. If there's one trend that never goes out of style, it's challenge and change. This is based on something that I pulled from the Successful Manager’s Handbook (an amazing resouce!) as I prepare to prepare my team for the coming year. It’s a question that I’m asking each one of them, and am posing to each one of you. What do you see as your greatest challenge in 2005 …with your company? …with your people? …with your industry? …with your customers? …with your vendors? …with the world!? As I look at my greatest challenges (I’ll save those all for another post), I’m reminded that everything I know today will not help me solve these problems of tomorrow. As I’m reading through The Daily Drucker, and The Medici Effect and building my personal collection of creativity and brainstorming cards, I know that innovation is a prerequisite to solving the upcoming years’ challenges. I think a quote from today’s Druckerism is appropriate here. "The characteristic of the innovator is the ability to envisage as a system what to others are unrelated, separate elements." [Peter Drucker, Managing for Results] Those are some books that I am going to have to check out but what I would say may be a challenge (and maybe its just a fear) is that although the market is shifting toward internet commerce at a break neck pace, with this comes the opertunity for more scams, fraud, and corruption. I mostly would be interested in what the online community is doing to prepare for this. I may be naive for thinking this but I just do not want to see the online market collapse because consumers simply do not trust the internet. I'm sure that the people at this site are more insiteful than I, so if you would care to give me your opinion I would greatly appreciate it. Post a comment
