Read to Lead in Green Bay

So it's been about 7 months now that we've had a 'professinals reading group' here in Green Bay. On the best days we see 10 people show up, while the typical attendance is about 5 people for our once-a-month professional book discussions. For instance, this month we discussed "Raving Fans : A Revolutionary Approach To Customer Service" (Ken Blanchard, Sheldon Bowles). A superb read!

We're heading into the 'second season of the book club and will be taking July off, but we're running right through summer, in spite of what could be perceived as a time of the year where most folks don't show up on sunny Monday evenings for a book discussion. But, I have to ask you all, why not?

Why don't more people attend these sorts of events. It's nothing but great discussion centered on a business book that we know people are reading. It's a chance to network, to learn, to share and to generally have a good time. Ok, I'm biased. I love reading and discussing books. Not everyone does. OK.

If you're reading this and wondering why your city doesn't have something like this, waste no time and start something immediately. Don't worry if it's just three of you at the first meeting. It will grow. If people can go home and sit in front of the TV at 6PM, they can certainly read a bit and enjoy some discussion around a book one night a week. Be sure to wrap by 8 though, you wouldn't want to miss The Apprentice!

Here's the books for our Current Reading Group for the next several months.
