How many twenty-somethings actually go through a box of business cards these days?

I'm in the process of moving, and as with any move, you make some choices about what to keep, and what to pitch. As I'm going through my office stuff, I realize that I've never gone through a full box of business cards in my post-college career. In fact, I with the average job tenure among people of my generation at an all time low, I'm willing to bet that many of my counterparts have never gone through a full set of cards from their last employer, let alone their current one.

Just a thought...

I can't remember ever needing to re-order business cards.

i use my cards for those "win a free lunch" raffles at local restaurants... that, and networking... =)

And on the other handf how often do you use business cards given to you randomly at meetings by others?

I'm about 200 cards away from finishing my first box. It's taken about 1 year to get that far.

That's funny stuff - use cards for free lunch giveaways.

Maybe the whole 'paradigm' of the business card is changing, but I still hold value in them. I know that it's the one place that someone is likely to have ALL of their contact info. That's good to know...

I do use *most* cards given to me. I like to network and you never know when you might be able to help somone!

Another great use for business cards... scrap paper. Whenever there's a random thing I want to remember, my business cards come in handy. Because of that, at my previous job, I did indeed run through an entire box of cards.

And, yes, I used more than a few for raffles too.

Good point David! Actually, I have my old business cards around for bookmarks and scratch pads. It seems that every book on my shelf has an old business card stuck in it somewhere!

Yep, after over 6 years in the same role, there's still 1/5th of a box in my desk drawer. Perhaps another good use: cartoons (http://gapingvoid.streetcards.com/).
