For my contribution, I submit that of all the brainstorming sessions I've attended and tried to run, nothing beats a strong facilitator and a couple of quick brainstorming/problem solving tools. You can have a lot of mediocrity in the group, the cause, the tools, and the like, but the facilitator is the glue that holds it all together and has the power to bring out the best in the group
