Blogs Replace Whack-a-Mole for Screw-off Time

Thanks to Karen Post for this link to the latest "blogs will ruin your life" article on AdAge.com.

WHAT BLOGS COST AMERICAN BUSINESS
In 2005, Employees Will Waste 551,000 Work Years Reading Them

I say, so f--ing what. We've been screwing off for years with junk emails and funny videos and other crap like that. Blogs are just replacing that, and more.

Apparently, there's a lot of blogging going on during the workday that shouldn't be...

And they create and post to them. Technorati, a blog search engine, now tracks 19.6 million blogs, a number that has doubled about every five months for the past three years. If that growth were to continue, all 6.7 billion people on the planet will have a blog by April 2009. Imagine the work that won’t get done then.

Some employers are more draconian than others in their blockage of blogs. I recall as early as January 2005 that my former employer had blocked all things blogs, and lots of other useful content on the web.
