Blogging as Lighting Rod

Evelyn has a post on meeting other kindred bloggers that underscores why many of us blogging, especially those of us in areas like Green Bay, WI where kindred spirts can be harder to find than they might be in a larger city with may like-minded folks.

If you don't blog, you might not know a secret incredible unstated benefit to blogging is that it becomes a clear steady beacon to all those that are kindred spirits.

Thanks Dana! I'm writing a post (in-progress) about how importance of geography is waning. If I remember correctly you were also an avid reader of Richard Florida's "The Rise of the Creative Class." Not saying there won't be areas that are magnets for talent, but I think some of the social networks will tie into those regional magnets maybe as super-nodes, but "creative class centers" may be more a social network phenomenon than actual physical locales. (I may have never moved to Silicon Valley in Oct '02 if I had been a blogger then, but who knows?)

Here's a related article on Blogging and Silicon Valley Culture: http://www.alwayson-network.com/comments.php?id=P3766_0_5_0_C
